Antibodies are proteins that help fight off against infections and usually provide protection against acquiring the same disease again (i.e. immunity).

Our antibody tests check blood samples by looking for antibodies which are present if there was a past infection from the virus that causes COVID-19 (and they should not be used to only diagnose COVID-19). Depending on when someone was infected and the timing of the test administered, the test may not find antibodies in someone with a current COVID-19 infection.
